Luke 2:25-28King James Version (KJV)
25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

And the same man was just and feared God, and longed for the consolation of Israel, and the holy ghost was in him. 26 And an answer was given him of the holy ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27 And he came by inspiration into the temple. These are my thoughts, please share yours.

25 Simeon was a very common it was the name of one the tribes of Israel. This was not as common at that time we can see from the New Testament that the temple had become more about their look to Rome and making money. Simeon also looked for Israel to go back to its high, the days of Solomon was its highest. At that time the Spirit only came upon people and never dwelled with them or became apart of them.

26 The Spirit revealed things then and still does today, it is always in line with the scriptures though, and the Spirit will never have us do something scriptures say we should not. I don’t think he was expecting a baby whose family could not afford to buy a lamb.

27 The custom it is referring to is giving an offering. Simeon went where the Spirit guided him and was blessed by seeing Jesus, when we follow the Spirit we too will be blessed by seeing Jesus.

28 Following God will always end up bringing praise. God alone deserves our praise.

Better to be a servant of the King than to be a king in hell.
