Luke 5:29-32 King James Version (KJV)
29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.
30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
A Voice In The Wilderness Bible
Luke 5:29-32
5:29 Then Levi made Him a great feast in his own house. And there were a great number of tax collectors and others who sat down with them.
5:30 And their scribes and the Pharisees murmured against His disciples, saying, Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?
5:31 And Jesus answered and said to them, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.
5:32 I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
29 Levi also known as Matthew was a tax collector and gave up this life to follow Jesus, he would not be able to be a tax collector again, the other disciples could have went back to do things like fish but he would have to change jobs, this feast was for two main reasons one to say that he was no longer going to collect taxes and also to have his tax collector friends meet Jesus.
30 The Pharisees always thought they were better than everyone, with us knowing Jesus is Lord they had the idea here and would show it again that they knew better then God Himself.
31-32 Those who were in the right standing with God were not the Pharisees because Jesus tells them what they are doing wrong time and time again but Jesus came for sinners, we are all sinners, He came for us all but they could not understand that they were sinners as well.
