Prayers are not magic.

Don’t recite the same prayer over and over as the heathen do, who think prayers are answered only by repeating them again and again. Remember, your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! (Matthew 6:7-8)

Prayers are not magic. Repeating the same words over and over like a magic incantation is no way to ensure that God will hear your prayer. It’s not wrong to come to God many times with the same requests—Jesus encourages persistent prayer. But he condemns the shallow repetition of words that are not offered with a sincere heart. We can never pray too much if our prayers are honest and sincere. Before you start to pray, make sure you mean what you say.

Christ told us to pray in His name and your prayers will be answered. So the question is what does it mean to pray in His name?

John 14:13-14

You can’t pray for wealth and expect to have money fall from the sky. Prying in His name is praying for His will to be done. It may be that He needs you to be poor to so that you will be in position to accomplish His will.
