The text above describes Abraham's work as a willingness to follow God's commandment even if it was against his will.
What was Abraham's work? Abraham did what God commanded him to do even though he did not understand it, and even though God commanded him to do something that was against his own will.
The case of Abraham proves that the justifying faith is a working faith. So can our faith be shown to be a working faith? What kind of works did our Lord commanded us to do?
Here are a few scriptures that point out to us that we were commanded to love one another as our Lord loves us.
Joh 13:34, A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; even as I have loved you, that ye also
love one another.
Joh 15:12, This is my commandment, that ye
love one another, even as I have loved you.
Joh 15:17, These things I command you, that ye may
love one another.
Rom 13:8, Owe no man anything, save to l
ove one another: for he that loveth his neighbor hath fulfilled the law.
1Th 4:9, But concerning love of the brethren ye have no need that one write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to
love one another;
1Pe 1:22, Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth unto unfeigned love of the brethren,
love one another from the heart fervently:
1Jo 3:11, For this is the message which ye heard from the beginning, that we should
love one another:
1Jo 3:23, And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and
love one another, even as he gave us commandment.
1Jo 4:7, Beloved, let us
love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God.
1Jo 4:11, Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to
love one another.
1Jo 4:12, No man hath beheld God at any time: if we
love one another, God abideth in us, and his love is perfected in us:
2Jo 1:5, And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote to thee a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we
love one another.
All justifying work should come from love that we have learned through Christ our Lord. There is no love in Satan, and any work that is not derived from the love of God will not justify anyone's faith in God.
