James 4:7-10

New King James Version (NKJV)

Humility Cures Worldliness

7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

These are my thoughts please share yours.

7 By following after we will be faced more with the evils of this world but we need to have faith in God which will get stronger as we grow in Christ. Temptations will come our way as believers but we need to flee from them. Evil does not stand a chance before God.

8 We should not try to live as the world does and live as christians because this hurts us and makes sharing the gospel harder for all believers. As believers we will grow and continue to be more like Christ as we do.

9 Our troubles can add to our testiomony and we gain faih thru overcoming.

10 We are to know God is our all and we are nothing without Him. Jesus loves us even though we ar very sinful people and He wants to make us better than we are and make us more like Him.

Better to be a servant of the King than to be a king in hell.

I have seen this problem in our local church, where the church is trying to go out into the community and show the unsaved that we are no different than they are.

The problem is if we are no different than they are what has happened to the work of the Holy Ghost? After all if we are like them then they must be like us, simple logic there is no advantage in our message. Why would you need Christ if your life will make no discernible change in the conversion?

9 Be miserable and mourn and weep ; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom.

Turn away from the friendship of the world and mourn for those that remain in it.

1 John 2:16 NAS
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
