FAME

Avoid shame, but do not seek glory—nothing so expensive as glory.
Sydney Smith (1771–1845)

      Fame is a fickle food
Upon a shifting plate.
Emily Elizabeth Dickinson (1830–1886)

Fame usually comes to those who are thinking about something else.
Oliver Wendell Holmes (1809–1894)

Fame, like flame, is harmless until you start inhaling it.
O. A. Battisti

God is not impressed with celebrities or those who would like to be. He is impressed by only one man—Christ. And only those who accept Christ by faith receive God’s approval.
Erwin W. Lutzer (1941– )

I had the world, and it wasn’t nothin’.
Muhammad Ali (1942– )

It is better to be a nobody who accomplishes something than a somebody who accomplishes nothing.
Men think highly of those who rise rapidly in the world; whereas nothing rises quicker than dust, straw, and feathers.
August W. Hare (1792–1834)

Popularity is a crime from the moment it is sought; it is only a virtue where men have it whether they will or no.
Marquis of Halifax (1633–1695)

      Popularity? It’s glory’s small change.
Victor Hugo (1802–1885)

Seeking to perpetuate one’s name on earth is like writing on the sand by the seashore; to be perpetual it must be written on eternal shores.
Dwight Lyman Moody (1837–1899)

The best of men are still sinners. If we take pride in the “greats” of this world, we have a warped view of God’s values. He chooses the base, the lowly, and the unknown.
Erwin W. Lutzer (1941– )

What is fame? An empty bubble.
James Grainger (1721–1766)

We should not seek fame but seek Jesus.

If you seek fame is it not the same thing as pride, or seeking to elevate yourself in the eyes of others?

Sounds like one of Satan's moves, or objectives.

Fame for Fame's sake not good but

some very solid men of God are famous though.

some very good preachers are famous not problem with that (Spurgeon)

Being famous for being an uncompromising bible believer is not wrong.

Being famous is one thing but seeking fame is another. For instance we have Satan and we have Michael the Archangel.

Quote
Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory ; and he said to Him, "All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me."  Then Jesus said to him, "Go, Satan ! For it is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.' "

Quote
But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

Fame didn't do well for Robin Williams did it?
People out of work and losing everything they had, look at this nan who killed himself because he had to lower himself to doing a TV series, and see a cowered without the ability to turn to God for strength.

Yeah the poor guy was down to his last $150 million. But it shows that life is not worth living without God. And I am not judging him or his action, but pointing out the fact.
