The reason for our afflictions?
« on: December 23, 2013, 01:54:56 pm »
We learn in the book of Job that sometimes there is a reason for our afflictions. We can also see in John 9:3 ("It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents sinned; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.") sometimes our afflictions are put there for reason that may only be known to God.

Ask yourself is looking for reasons and answers to your suffering, where does your mind usually run? And when you come up with your conclusions are they shaped biblically or around your feelings or the feelings of others? Is there any way that you can look at your situation and see that someday God may be glorified by it?

Quote from: Romans 8:28 KJV
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

The trouble is that we can't always see the out come to its conclusion. For instance we my not understand that God's purpose may include our death or the death of a love one. It we should understand death as a new life, but being human it not easy.

One lesson from Job is that illness or poverty is not necessarily a result of our sins.
