Title: Thought on IDOL Worship

I know idol worship is wrong. I read ten commandments. But when i see the context i do understand following way.

GOD told not to do idol worship because GOD was knowing that people will understand idols as GOD. So they will go far from real GOD. That's why GOD told not to do idol worship. Is that thought correct??

God is a  jealous God and He will not  share the credit for his creation with anyone or anything.  He will not allow others to get the credit or praise that he deserves.
