“For I am with you always “, do you forget that?
Is it as much as a commandment as love forgive others, as love your neighbors?

We are also taught to fear God's Wrath.
I think what you are saying is about the lack of faith. As Israel to accept the land God gave them because they feared the giants. It was a matter of faith.

Matthew 8:26

I agree this is a question of Faith, with faith there is no fear.
