Help me never to break your confidence, my God, or to complain to others that your discipline is too severe.
Keep me from running here and there for human sympathy. May I be satisfied with you. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
May I anoint my head and wash my face that I may not appear to others to suffer, but only to you, who sees in secret and who will reward me openly.
