Luke 3:10-14 King James Version (KJV)
10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?
13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.
14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

Luke 3:10-14
CLV 10 And the throngs inquired of him, saying "What, then, should we be doing? 11 Now answering, he said to them, "He who has two tunics, let him be sharing with him who has none, and let him who has food be doing likewise." 12 Now tribute collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, "Teacher, what should we be doing? 13 Now he said to them, "Impose nothing more than has been prescribed to you." 14 Now soldiers also inquired of him, saying, "What should we also be doing? And he said to them, "You should be intimidating no one, neither be blackmailing, and be sufficed with your rations."

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

10 John was a prophet the people were asking him because they wanted to know what God wanted them to do, they respected John as a prophet of God.

11 Being generous is something the Lord wants us to do; He wants us to help our brothers,

12 Baptism was something that was first done as a purifying method, now it is an act of showing God has purified us. They viewed John as a teacher called from God because they asked him about matter of God.

13 Tax collectors often times over collected taxes, they took much more than what was needed so they could be rich, the Romans only cared that they got was owed but they could take whatever they wanted.

14 Soldiers also did whatever they wanted because of their authority they could get away with things and take and do what they wanted.

Hi Clark, hope all is well with you.

11) Christ echoed the same - Matthew 22:39.

12- 13)  These guys were Jews and considered disloyal sell outs to the Romans. They paid the Romans in advance then collected what they could and kept the profit, St. Matthew was one of them before he met Christ.

14) These soldiers were also the police of their day. They handled crime and disputes like police do today. The message again was to treat others as you would want to be treated.
