Luke 7:18-21 King James Version (KJV)
18 And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things.
19 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

Luke 7:18-21 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

18 Yochanan’s talmidim informed him of all these things. Then Yochanan called two of his talmidim 19 and sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are you the one who is to come? Or should we look for someone else?” 20 When the men came to him, they said, “Yochanan the Immerser has sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come? Or should we keep looking — for someone else?’” 21 Right then he was healing many people of diseases, pains and evil spirits, and giving sight to many who were blind.

18 These men were followers of John but they went to Jesus, people following something or someone else doesn’t change that Jesus is the one with authority.

19 John boldly proclaimed Jesus before but now because of him being arrested he doubted, we may doubt during the hard times but we can go to the Lord and be reassured.

20 So they went and asked the question on John’s behalf. Jesus thankful is the one who stands on our behalf before the Lord.

21 Jesus had already as this point healed more people then anyone else ever would. Jesus at this point already had done things that hadn’t been done before. He is still the same today.

The Jewish people were expecting a different kind of Messiah. They believe he would be a great military leader and deliver them from the oppression of Rome. John apparently was under the same impression, but he knew instinctively that Jesus was the Messiah, he was very confused. One of the reasons Jesus did the miracles for the Jewish people to see was to take away any doubt in their mind that he was sent from God. Nobody, including the apostles, seemed really to understand the significance of the presence of Jesus Christ. This changed after the resurrection.

First of all, what did the disciples of John the Baptist reported to him...?

That which happened from chapter 7:11-17..

Therefore, how can John the Baptist doubt hearing all these good works and among others, JESUS is doing and is well spoken about, even here in all Judea..?

And when prior to this, John the baptist did exalt JESUS to his disciples and preached to them about Him...? (John3:22-36)

Therefore to the Scripture accounts you have posted, John the Baptist sends two of his disciples as witnesses and with a question, to JESUS, because he 'doubted'....?

John the Baptist know his time is up, as do all true spiritual man of GOD. The concern here is his disciples who are still with him, when they are supposed to be with their MESSIAH JESUS in believe and faith, and follow Him, and not with him any longer. Many times openly and closely John the Baptist did minister, even firsthand to is disciple, about who CHRIST is and what did He come for. And moreover how significant and important is JESUS was compared to him.

i believe John the Baptist created this incident for his disciples to see and believe, and have faith in JESUS, after he is gone. And sure enough, after he was beheaded, his disciple went to JESUS and reported about his death.

Why did not John just tell his disciples Jesus was the Christ and it was time for them to go follow Him?

And why only two of his disciples?

And He answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM.  (Luke 7:22, NASB)

Then why did Jesus send them back to john with the quotes from Isaiah 35:5, 6 ?

Thank you and you have legitimate questions that LORD JESUS CHRIST would answer only His lambs and sheep.

Okay, why is because John the Baptist sent only two disciples among all his other disciple with him, in order to be eye witnesses themselves, and report what they have seen and heard, back to the other disciples there, for final assurance that JESUS is their long awaited MESSIAH...

Quote
Why did not John just tell his disciples Jesus was the Christ and it was time for them to go follow Him?

John the Baptist did declare publicly and his disciples who were close with him baptizing heard it firsthand from the beginning itself. This is even before he baptized JESUS. As JESUS of Nazareth one day passed by the river Jordan where John was baptizing with his disciples, he prophesy to JESUS that,

"Here comes the Passover Lamb, who takes away the sins of this world."

And we know his disciples heard it loud and clear, because two of his disciples responded, and henceforth started following JESUS. And JESUS did ask them, why are they following Him, and they replied that they want to go where He goes. And that is why JESUS responded saying, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests. But the Son of man have no place to rest."

Again, we all know that among the two disciples who followed JESUS, one of them is Andrew, and who went and informed his brother Simon Peter..

Quote
And why only two of his disciples?

According to the Law of Moses, they need only two or three witnesses, in order to justify a case...

Quote
And He answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM.  (Luke 7:22, NASB)

Yes, because in discouragement John the Baptist is the one who instructed them to ask JESUS, whether He is the one, or are they to look for someone else, and on their behalf actually. When John's sent work is already done, from the introduction of the MESSIAH to the correction of King Herod and imprisonment, and his time is up.

On behalf of his disciples indeed, who were from the beginning skeptical about JESUS and then Him with His disciples baptizing on the other side, reporting all of them to John the Baptist since. Where in return John also told them in further introduction again, the short parable of the the 'best man' and the 'groom'. And even too repeatedly, how he is not worthy to untie even the straps of JESUS' sandals. Including, how he must decrease and JESUS must increase.

The disciples of John the Baptist, and not John, are the ones who really need the verification through repeated introduction and through witnessing for themselves, of their promised MESSIAH. In order therefore to believe and in faith become His disciples henceforth, and receive the Salvation through Him to eternal life.

For John already have his verification in the beginning itself, as GOD called and prepared him to witness and introduce and witness to the people of Israel, the one HE will send. That is when the HOLY SPIRIT descends, as in vision a dove descending upon this man, He is the one. And indeed as GOD said, John did witness himself this man.

And who were they to make that case to? Answer: John the Baptist

John gave us a hint on what he believed the Messiah was here to do in Matthew 3.  He believed that the Messiah was here to bring righteous judgment unto the people of Israel.

Matt 3:12. "His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

But this was not what was being reported to him by his disciples. (Luk 7:18.)

So yes John was confused, even so was the confusion of the people of Israel. Fortunately the simple quotation from Isaiah was all that John needed, unfortunately Israel needed much more.

And who were they to make that case to? Answer: John the Baptist

How about the other disciple there too, who are also witnessing, that they all need to follow JESUS now and not John no longer, for he knows his time is up. Where the 'best man' has already gave the 'groom' to the the 'bride', as bride did walk through the isle to meet the Groom, where two as the bride among many, met the groom in marriage and followed Him. And one of them was Andrew, who went to get Simon Peter his brother...

Quote
John gave us a hint on what he believed the Messiah was here to do in Matthew 3.  He believed that the Messiah was here to bring righteous judgment unto the people of Israel.

The FATHER of the Groom only chooses the Son's best friend as the 'best man', not anyone else, even naturally in this world, where it is also the 'shadow' of what is in Heaven. And John the Baptist was not himself, for he had the spirit of Elijah in him. For Elijah and Moses knew everything about JESUS, the LORD from Heaven, and both came down from there, ones who visited JESUS during His 'transfiguration', witnessed by disciple John, Peter and James themselves, as in order to comfort JESUS...

Quote

This is not about Israel where they are beginning to go and those already following JESUS of Nazareth, as He preached and taught the Kingdom of GOD at hand. Or neither it is about John the Baptist, who have fulfilled his duty and it is time for him to go home. But is all about the disciples of John the Baptist, who have been all the way contemplating and perplexed about JESUS of Nazareth and His works still, and therefore continuously reporting to John since, even after prior to all that John has testified in regards to JESUS them.

And again, how was John stirred up in order to make a case about JESUS in doubt, as a lesson to his disciples....?

When they came and reported again, and again prior to, about JESUS and what He was doing, and even with His disciples. As prior to this such a case, even telling John the Baptist, that JESUS and His disciples were baptizing on the other side, as in complaint.... And what was John's respond as usual to them.....?

And as usual, exalting in regards to JESUS and His works to them, where he also mentioned to them that he must decrease and JESUS must increase...

You mean to say, Elijah and not John the Baptist, was confused...?

Think again, how about when John the Baptist said, "Here comes the Passover Lamb of GOD who takes away the sins of this world."

Was this utterance 'spiritually discerned', or 'carnally discern' by John the Baptist, in regards to the liberation of Israel from it's enemies..?

Did John warn the Israelite or the Romans their enemy, in regards that JESUS at hand holds an axe to chop every tree that is not fruitful...?

Therefore, was John confused, or you are apparently are, in lack of spiritual knowledge for now...?

Shalom
B.B.

There should be no debates between true believers in regards the truth, and evidently All Scripture = HOLY BIBLE is at hand and also according to the wisdom given them, as accordingly conformed to the intact teaching embroided within, are able likewise to come together into 'oneness' in acknowledgement and faith. But nevertheless, there are and will be debates on the other hand, with Gentile Christians who are proud and are wise in their own conceit, as babes in CHRIST. And also likewise unbelievers who are yet blind to what is from above, the Kingdom of GOD which in these last days GOD spoke through HIS SON.

And HIS SON through to the disciples, who became Apostles, and them through to the church. And likewise through to the church to the inspired All Scripture = HOLY BIBLE and versions put together in knowledge. And finally through 2Timothy3:16&17, until to the present church today in faith, and are 'minorities' to date as before. And they are secluded and scarcely heard of, for example in the past like the 'Pilgrim church' and the 'catholic church'. Likewise existing even today among apparently the 'majorities', we frequently see and hear from, even through media worldwide.

This is because as JESUS said,

"Many are called but only a few are chosen."

For the kingdom of GOD is about 'quality' in faith and oneness in truth doctrine, and not 'quantity' in lawlessness and lack of faith and divided among one another, based one self's views and opinions instead.

Yes, you are right that we have nothing in common in regards to the written truth and in knowledge, and acknowledgement.

Well, i will leave you with anyway what furthermore clarifies that John was not confused like Israel and yous today, in regards the MESSIAH's quest for Israel. i have not witness John's testimonies in writings, that the MESSIAH will wage war against Israel's human enemies in conjunction to Israel's believes and likewise himself confused in believe, like yous put into prospective in theology.

Because moreover from what i have been given to testify prior, as to verify John's innocence based on the written truth, that he having the spirit of Elijah, is 'spiritually discerned' about the MESSIAH and proclaiming to Israel that day in contradiction to them, even Herod and the leaders of Israel, and not 'carnally discerned' acting likewise with them.

He also said as 'spiritually discerned' from above in testimony, among others i have already testified earlier, and therefore in direct contradiction to what Israel 'carnally discerns', in imagination that day, who the MESSIAH is and will come for, that,

"I baptize with water, but He will baptize with HOLY SPIRIT and Fire."

Don't seem he is confused even in his last hour, but in discouragement and out of his mind, thinking about his disciples who are still with him. And are yet faithless to follow JESUS, even prior to have testified thoroughly and who heard it firsthand, about JESUS as their MESSIAH and His conquest for them 'spiritually'. As the sent ahead voice shouting in the wilderness, as Israel is that wilderness, in order for them to make a straight path for the LORD.

These are not for you alone, but also for other readers as well.

May GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST bless you.

Apparently you believe it is far better to receive the spirit of Elijah than to receive the Holy Spirit. Making the claim that a man knows everything about God is a little bit on the fringe. When Elizabeth was carrying John the Baptist and was visited by Mary, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit not of the great spirit of Elijah.

We agree on one thing John's mission had come to an end and it was not ending as he thought it would. You believe that John the Baptist could never have the slightest, tiniest thought that he may have made a mistake? If that is so he is probably the only character of any of the prophets who did not at some time falter. May I remind you that he was a man and he was a sinner and it was only the man John, and not the prophet, who made the inquiry. Do you disagree with that that John the Baptist was a sinner?

The rules of this forum is that you are required to backup all your statements view the Scriptures if asked. I'm telling you that for now on when you communicate with me that every word that you type I am asking you to verify those words with Scripture passages.

No I leave you with some scriptures that you should study maybe they will help you find the truth.

John 1:
29. The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
30. "This is He on behalf of whom I said, 'After me comes a Man who has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.'
31. "I did not recognize Him, but so that He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing in water."
32. John testified saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.
33. "I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, 'He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.'
34. "I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God."
35. Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples,
36. and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!"
37. The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38. And Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, "What do you seek?" They said to Him, "Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?"
39. He said to them, "Come, and you will see." So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.
40. One of the two who heard John [speak] and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

Did i say that, or in conceit and deceit you are trying to put lying words into my testimony about John the Baptist...?

Quote

A little bit on the fringe, is on your part actually, where you tend to exaggerate from what was given, i have testified. For one, John the Baptist who 'spiritually discern' from GOD, know more than any of his disciples put together who 'carnally discern', about JESUS.

Quote

Did i say that, or isn't it once again your bitter exaggerative escapade you put on here....?

So what you are saying is, i made that one up, that John the Baptist had the spirit of Elijah...?

John the Baptist according to the Scripture, lived a life unlike any other Prophet, who normally lived and worked among the clergy and peasants, and were provided for by them, and are sinners, even as Moses was. But John lived a peculiar life, for when he was grown up, he left his parents and made his dwelling in the wilderness and cave, and never married. He wore a garment of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist and his food was locusts and wild honey. He came every day to baptize the Israelites at the river Jordan and proclaim the Gospel of repentance, and the Kingdom of GOD through the MESSIAH to come.

Matthew 3:

1. In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea,
2. Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3. For this is he who was spoken of by the Prophet Isaiah when he said, 'The voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the LORD; make His path straight.' '
4. Now John wore a garment of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
5. Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him,
6. and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
7. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8, Bear fruits in keeping with repentance.
9. And do not presume to say to yourself, 'We have Abraham as our father,' for I tell you, GOD is able from these stones to raise up children of Abraham.
10. Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
11. 'I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is Mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the HOLY SPIRIT and with fire.
12. His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will clear His threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn, but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire.'
13. Then JESUS came to Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.
14. John would have prevented Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?"
15, But JESUS answered him, "Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he consented.
16, And when JESUS was baptized, immediately He went up from the water, and behold, the Heavens were opened to Him, and he saw the SPIRIT of GOD descending like a dove and coming to rest on Him, and behold, a voice from Heaven said, "This is MY beloved SON, with who I AM well pleased."

This trash you post cannot be left unanswered and this is the only reason I'm responding to you. We learned early in the Bible that Satan uses half-truths to promote his lie.

Matthew 11:

7. As they went away JESUS began to speak to the crowd concerning John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? (this statement of JESUS about John, defeats your John doubted theory 'biblebuf')
8.What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings houses.
9. What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
10. This is he of whom is written, 'Behold, I send a messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.'
11. Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.
12. From the day of John the Baptist until now the Kingdom of Heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.
13. For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John,
14. and you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come.
15. He who have ears to hear, let him hear.
16. "But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children siting in the marketplaces and calling to their playmates,
17. 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.'
18, For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.'
19. The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look at Him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.

John 1:

John 3:
24. (for John had not yet put in prison).
25. Now a discussion arose between some of John's disciples and a Jew over purification.
26. And they came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, He who was with you across the river Jordan, to whom you bore witness-look, He is baptizing and all are going to Him."
27. John answered, "A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given Him from Heaven.
28. You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, 'I am not the CHRIST, but I have been sent before Him.
29. The one who has the bride is the groom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears Him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is complete.
30. He must increase, but I must decrease."
31. He who comes from above is above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks in an earthly way. He who comes from Heaven is above all.
32. He bears witness to what He has seen and heard, yet no one receives His testimony.
33. Whoever receives His testimony sets his seal to this, that GOD is true.
34. For He whom GOD has sent utters the words of GOD, for He gives the SPIRIT without measure.
35. The FATHER loves the SON and has given all things into His hand. Whoever believes in the SON has eternal life, whoever does not obey the SON shall not see life, but the wrath of GOD remains on him.
