Jude 1:20-23

King James Version (KJV)

20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:

23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Jude 1:20-23

New King James Version (NKJV)

Maintain Your Life with God

20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

20 The beloved here is the church those that accept the love of Christ which there is none greater. Our Christian walk is built off following Christ but when we do this our faith in Him grows. We pray for guidance and healing. Pray is important to know where the Lord wants us. Pray is a result of strong faith not something done because of lack of faith.

21 The love is God is to be in fellowship with God by keeping by the truths we have from Him and being obedient. You can be His and be disobedient but to be full of His love we have to honor what He wants from us. We have God’s mercy we should as a result show mercy ourselves. We may fall to a sin but His mercy is our forgiveness. We will have His mercy until the day sin is no more upon the coming of our Lord Jesus. We as believers will spend eternity with Him.

22 There are those who follow Jesus who may have Him but doubt it due to false teaching they have received or preconceived ideas they accept. If we are His, we do not need to worry jut follow Him but, for those who are not His they should accept him as the Lord He is because no one is good enough to get into heaven, no not one. Sin may cause even the strongest believer to doubt but we need in these times o doubt to rely on the truth which is the word. There should be a difference between the way the believers live and the way the world lives.

23 There are also those that hate their own sins so much they are not able to overcome them to do good for the Lord. They know they still are His but do not feel worthy of serving Him. The lord accepts us for who we are. He accepted us when we were to living a life following Him and wanted us any way. In spite of all we have done He still loves us and wants us to serve Him. There is nothing we can do to stop God’s love but fall into the pit of destruction where none get out.

Better to be a servant of the King than to be a king in hell.

From:
The People's New Testament - Jude 1:20-23

Building up yourselves. Instead of separating from the faith.
Praying in the Holy Spirit. See Eph 6:18.
Keep yourselves in the love of God. By holy lives and prayer.
On some have mercy, who are in doubt.  The thought is to be very gentle and pitiful to those disturbed by doubt.
And some save, snatching them out of the fire. By snatching away from sin by the most vigorous effort. By stern preaching.
Some have mercy with fear. Mercifully point out the danger.
Hating even the garment, etc. All the while abhorring their sins.

 NAS

20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting ; 23 save others, snatching them out of the fire ; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

20-23 is referring back to verses 17-19 17 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, 18 that they were saying to you, "In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts." 19 These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit.

Tell us not to be like them. But You should be deferent.

Simple

Keep a strong relationship with our Lord and help those that need to come closer to Him.

This would tie in good with ROM 14.
