"Abba ! Father !"
« on: October 12, 2013, 12:47:05 pm »
"So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. (Luke 15:20 )
The LORD is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.  He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever.  He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.  For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.  As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.  Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. (Psa. 103:8-13 )
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba ! Father !" The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, (Rom. 8:15, 16 ) But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Eph. 2:13 ) So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, (Eph. 2:19 )

Old Testament references made to Gentiles. I like the term adoption, it pretty much lays out the transformation from the lost to the saved and establishes our right as part of the family of our Lord.
