The destruction of nations
« on: December 01, 2013, 04:24:14 pm »
Why did God order the destruction of nations in the Old Testament?

Do nations pay the consequences of the sins of its inhabitants?

The Old Testament is full of stories of God destroying nations because of their sinful lifestyles. In fact we look and see that God destroyed all living things except for those saved by the arc of Noah during the flood, because of their sins.

We can also see in the Old Testament in the book of Joel, that God intends to bring all nations to judgment for their treatment of Israel.

What kind of sins do we see modern nations committing against God today? Have we reached the point of Sodom and Gomorrah?

God is just but God also has mercy. God both poured out Judgement and showed mercy to Cain after he killed his brother Abel. The nations are doing great evils but God has shown His mercy, there will come a time He pour out his judgement. All will be judged.

There was a thread that asked if nations can sin. I think they can and have. Sin has to be reconciled with God, the answer for the individual is Christ. For a nation?????
