Sermon #321  The Jeer Of Sarcasm, And The Retort Of Piety

Delivered On Sabbath Evening, April 8, 1860,
By The Rev. C. H. Spurgeon,
At New Park Street Chapel, Southwark.

“Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said,How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the
handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovers himself! And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord, which chose me before your father and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord. And I will yet be more vile than thus and will be base in my own sight: and of the maidservants which you have spoken of, of them shall I be had in honor.”
                                                    2 Samuel 6:20-22.

The text shows a family member mocking David for his praising The Lord. but what about the mocking that comes from other members of our society ?

This mocking has taking the form of political correctness today. You see it from the evolutionist in our schools, and even within the church from people that call themselves believers.

Sing your praise to The Lord and let Satan mock, it comes from his jealousy.
