Ephesians 4:17-19

King James Version (KJV)

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Ephesians 4:17-19
New American Standard Bible (NASB)

17 So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; 19 and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

17 We should not walk in a way that is without purpose or without showing we know the Truth. This is not saying we are to live as Jews because Christ died so we would not be bound to the law but be made free from the law thru grace to serve Him. The Gentiles made their gods based on their views to many are doing this today and calling him God but God does not change values we should change our values based on what God says is right.

18 We should learn and grow with God this is something the Gentiles did not do, because they did not truly know God. We are no longer to live by this world but now to live for Him. We should allow Him to change us from our flesh to be more like His Spirit which we are in us to lead and guide us.

19 They do not know Go and because of this they follow what they know and that is what their flesh wants to be able to sin. They follow those paths of the flesh and not the ways of righteousness.

Better to be a servant of the King than to be a king in hell.

Keep in mind that Paul is not talking about Jews and Gentiles, but the body ( believers) vs the unbelievers. You can not mix light and dark just as you can not mix righteousness and ungodliness .

Do not yoke yourself with the unbeliever.

AKA keep unbelievers out of you church. They can come and hear the message but not be part of the fellowship.

Agreed, but the passage goes beyond the church setting. Look at it more like a question of lifestyle not only of the church but as a members life away from the church, as in business.

Gentile refered to those who followed the ways of the world, Paul using them to refer to those without faith, the unbelievers.
