Luke 2:33-35King James Version (KJV)
33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Luke 2:33-35

ACV 33 And Joseph and his mother were marveling at the things being spoken about him. 34 And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this man is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign being repudiated 35 (and also of thee, a sword will pierce through thine own soul), so that thoughts out of many hearts may be revealed.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

33 They knew what was dreamed and what they angel said yet were amazed that it came from this man, God’s plan is not secret we are to share God’s message, the message of the cross, the gospel.

34 Giving blessings was very important tradition even though it does not let us know the blessing, while he blessed Jesus we all are blessed because of Jesus. Israel would later be split between the group that followed Jesus and the group that rejected Him both were born Jews. Even during Christ’s life on earth there was the group that followed Him and then the group that wanted Him dead.

35 The thoughts of people are often evil and ungodly this is why we have a need for Christ because only by Him can we be made righteous.

The message here I think is in verse 34. "Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel" (NAS)

From The People's New Testament
Quote
Christ brought downfall to the hopes of those who expected a temporal prince and a political millennium, and ruin to those whose desire for the kingdom of God was ambition for place and power in it, as the Pharisees. He brought rising to those who were willing that God should overthrow their plans and ambitions, and who accepted from him the grander gift of a universal kingdom, prepared for all people. The rejection of him brought ruin to the Jews; the acceptance of him brought life eternal.

From Geneva Bible Notes:

Quote
Fall of the reprobate who perishes because of their own fault: and for the rising of the elect, unto whom God will give faith to believe.

I think that is Simeon prophecy coming from the Holy Spirit.

isaiah 8:14-15 "Then He shall become a sanctuary; But to both the houses of Israel, a stone to strike and a rock to stumble over, And a snare and a trap for the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 "Many will stumble over them, Then they will fall and be broken; They will even be snared and caught."
