Ephesians 1:3-6

King James Version (KJV)

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Ephesians 1:3-6

New King James Version (NKJV)

Redemption in Christ

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

3 All blessing come from God either Him giving or allowing it to be given. God is in control always. The biggest blessing ever is Jesus, who died so we might live in Him. We as believers may not have worldly blessings but we will have spiritually blessings that will enable us to serve Him better. These blessings will not give credit to ourselves but to Him and we will know even with these blessings that we can not do this without Him. We also will receive blessings when we finally journey our way home because we are not meant for this world as believers but meant for Him.

4 We were chosen by God to have the gifts His gives us. Even though He knew what we would be like, He knew that we would be His and that is what He wanted. This is true love, loving us faults and dyeing for us even though we have our faults. We are made holy thru Him by grace and His blood covering our sins and having them forgiven. Man made still find blame in us after coming to the Lord but God does not He sees the blood of Jesus and that we are in His grace and are forgiven and He sees us with a love that only He can give.

5 We foreordained to be His children by adoption into His family by grace. We as believers share a common blood; it is Christ’s which gives us life and fellowship with the Lord. It God’s will that all be saved from hell but not all will accept the call they have from the Lord only those who do will receive His grace and have a relationship with Him and become His sons and daughters. God’s will is good just as God is good. All that is good is of God and without God there is no good.

6 We should continue to give God praise for what He has done for us, as time goes His blesses grow and so should our praise for Him. There is no greater blessing in my life than coming to the Lord and receiving salivation. All true believers know the best decision they ever made was accept Jesus as Lord of their life because He has better control of things than we every could be able to.

Better to be a servant of the King than to be a king in hell.

Excellent job Clark, these are very controversial verses and you handled them well. Without getting into the debate between free will and predestination, I would like to look at another aspect of the Scripture
.

NAS

Quote
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

I would like to look a little bit at the word adoption. If we are being adopted as sons of God, than we first must analogy

Luke 20:36 NAS
for they cannot even die anymore, because they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

Romans 8:14 NAS
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Galatians 3:26 NAS
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

So what were we before we were adopted? Where we sons of Satan? Here is your answer.

      Ephesians 5:6 NAS

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

      Colossians 3:6 NAS

For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,

Rom 8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren ; 30 and these whom He predestined, He also called ; and these whom He called, He also justified ; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

Thank you both for sharing I agree before we come to the Lord we are serving satan. I did try not to start a debate and just share the word.
